Have you ever woken up and realized that you hate your business? I know that seems intense, but I’ve heard it from so many entrepreneurs over the years. Suddenly, people wake up and they’re overwhelmed, they feel like they’re in the wrong business, and they’re not sure where to go from here.
So what do you do if that happens to you, and how do you make sure you don’t throw out the things you love, as well as the things you’re frustrated by?
This is how I walk my clients through this difficult situation:
Just kidding. Don’t panic.
This is actually really common in business. We’re doing so much in such a short amount of time, it’s not surprising for entrepreneurs to have doubts.
1 (For Real). Check to make sure you’re not just overwhelmed.
You may just be in a place where there’s so much on your plate that you can’t think straight, and you really can’t tell if it’s good or bad. Take a step back and look at what’s going on. Nine times out of ten, that’s exactly the issue. So, what do you do?
2. Check if it’s a temporary situation… or a permanent one.
There are parts of our business that are going to be ongoing and happen all the time, and if one of those things is making you dread working on your business every day, you may need to get it out and figure out a solution. On the other side, if it’s temporary, it’s probably more worth it to just work through it. Temporary problems tend to work themselves out, and trying to change them may actually make you change things about your business that aren’t bad at all.
3. Check your frame.
You didn’t get into business in the first place because you hate everything about it. Go back to the right frame and remember what you LOVE about your business. Even if you’re in a frustrated place, you can figure out what is really enjoyable for you and change your perspective, which will help you manage the frustrating parts and make better decisions about how to address them.
4. Identify which parts you REALLY hate.
Now that you know what you love, it’s time to really find the pieces you hate. Just list them out, rant if you need to. What you’re going to do is take that list and prioritize it. Figure out which ones are the worst and move down from there. Then, go through that list item by item and decide if you can eliminate or delegate it to someone else so you don’t have to worry about it.
5. Clear your head - focus on what you love.
Now that you know what you’ve got to do, go back out and create and live the business that you LOVE.
Make sure you watch the video above so you can leverage the MOST out of your business!
